VA Community Care — Using Your VA Benefits

Veterans · Active Duty · Military Families

The VA MISSION Act (2019) gives eligible veterans the right to see community (non-VA) providers when the VA cannot schedule an appointment within 20 days. You may be able to access ImTT treatment with Dr. Flores using your VA benefits.

What Is the VA Community Care Network?

The VA MISSION Act of 2019 created the VA Community Care Network (CCN), which allows veterans to receive care from approved community (non-VA) providers when the VA cannot serve them within established wait time standards. For mental health services, the standard is 20 calendar days from the date of request. If the VA cannot meet that timeline, eligible veterans can access community care — with the VA reimbursing the provider directly.

VA CCN and the Trauma Institute

The Trauma Institute is pursuing VA Community Care Network credentialing to enable direct VA billing for eligible veterans. Dr. Floresu2019 clinical credentials — including her doctoral internship at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina — position the practice as a strong candidate for CCN credentialing. Once credentialed, eligible veterans can access ImTT treatment with Dr. Flores or Trauma Institute associates without out-of-pocket cost.

  • Step 2: Alternatively, contact the Community Care office at your local VA medical center and ask about your eligibility under the MISSION Act.
  • Step 3: Once a referral is issued, contact the Trauma Institute to schedule your appointment. Confirm CCN credentialing status when scheduling.
