EMDR Therapy in New Orleans
Certified EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD in New Orleans, Louisiana — provided by Dr. Suzana E. Flores, Psy.D.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most extensively validated treatments for PTSD available. Endorsed by the American Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, EMDR has helped millions of trauma survivors process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional charge.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation — typically eye movements or tapping — to help the brain process traumatic memories that have become “stuck” in the nervous system. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require detailed verbal recounting of the trauma. Many patients experience significant reduction in PTSD symptoms within 8–12 sessions.
What EMDR Treats
- PTSD and Complex-PTSD
- Single-incident trauma (accidents, assaults, medical events)
- Childhood and developmental trauma
- Military and combat trauma
- Narcissistic and relationship abuse
- Phobias and anxiety with traumatic roots
- Complicated grief
